Development Plan

As we get closer to launching our closed alpha, we want to take a moment to explain how versioning works in the Shardborne pack. When the alpha officially begins, we will start at version 0.1.x.
From there, we are using a simple versioning system to help communicate the scale of each update:
- Patch updates (the third number) is used for small changes, including bug fixes, minor tweaks, and small balance adjustments.
- Minor updates (the second number) represents larger changes, such as more noticeable balancing shifts or meaningful improvements to existing systems.
- At this stage of development, we are not introducing new major features in public updates. The focus will be on refining and improving what is already there.
What does this mean?
Shardborne is an early-access game. That means not everything we eventually want to include is in the pack yet. Instead, the experience will grow and evolve as we develop it. Be aware that closed alpha is the bare bones of what makes Shardborne playable.
Once the pack represents our vision, we will move toward a 1.0 release. That version will mark a much more complete and polished experience.
When will that happen?
There is still a long road ahead with plenty of content, systems, and improvements we want to bring into the pack. Rather than rushing toward a specific deadline, each step forward must meet the quality we are aiming for.
When can you expect updates?
Shardborne is a volunteer project, and everyone involved is balancing their work on the pack with real-life responsibilities. We are not sticking to a fixed update schedule.
Our focus is on making the game balanced, and that means some updates will not be released without other key supporting features, helping us ensure that what we release is stable and worth your time.
We appreciate your patience and support as we continue working on Shardborne. It’s a project we care deeply about, and we want to take the time to do it right.
